to my home studio . . .
. . . where beautiful things come together one stitch at a time!

Including: Wedding Dresses • Graduation Dresses • Alterations
• Quilting • Classes • Specialty Fabrics & so much more!

My grandmothers, Agnes and Maude, instilled in me a love for sewing, quilting, knitting, embroidery and crocheting from a young age. I am grateful to my Mom for teaching me to sew and allowing me to use her sewing machine for my early projects. Over the past 50 years, sewing has become an expression of my creativity and a way to honour the strong, creative women in my family.

Hi, I'm Ruth
At Agnes & Maude, I bring my passion for fabric to life. As a seamstress, I specialize in custom sewing, costume design, quilting, and crafting beautiful home décor items. Whether you’re looking for something special for a graduation, wedding, or costumes for a play or musical, I’m here to bring your vision to life.

Nestled in my cozy home studio in Caronport, SK, where I’ve lived since 1992 with my wonderful husband, Ed, we’ve raised four children and now have the joy of three grandchildren. Family time is precious to me, but my heart is also in my sewing studio, where creativity flows.

In my studio, I design, sew, and offer a curated selection of fabric lines that have captured my heart – perfect for quilting, clothing, crafting, or adding that special touch to your home décor.

Let’s create something beautiful together! I’d love to hear your ideas, so don't hesitate to contact me. I look forward to serving you.

CUSTOM PROJECTS
Seamstress rates range from $25 to $35 per hour, with the client covering materials, patterns, and supplies. The estimated cost for dresses, excluding materials and supplies, starts at $75+ for sundresses, which typically involve lighter fabrics and simpler designs.
Regardless of fabric or design complexity, regular dresses begin at $100+. Wedding dresses vary significantly, starting at $500 and potentially reaching $2000 or more, depending on the design's intricacy and embellishments. Factors such as sleeves, multiple zippers, and other design complexities influence the sewing price.
We rotary cut our fabric, thereby ensuring that you receive a selvage-to-selvage cut of what you ordered.
If you would prefer to have us tear your selections, you must direct us to do so.
We recommend that you launder your fabric before cutting it for your project. Laundering your fabric is more to eliminate the chemicals and inert dyes inherent to any fabric manufactured, easing your use of the product.
